On my 70 runner  there is an electrical plug coming out of the firewall right above the wiring block  it is a factory item  and has a built fused onto wiring cone shaped plug that fits into the firewall. then theres one of those combo male female connectors coming out. it has never been hooked up to anything.   I think it might be for hood blinkers???    I cannot send pics as car is being worked on in different state.  does anyone know  what this plugin is for ?? any pics for me to verify??? thanks  tom

as far I know, hood blinkers are spliced from the front light harness since the source is there. You'll find a 2 cavities plug hanging out close to the harness bulkhead plug.

anyway, aren't Plymouths with tuning signals on fenders instead on hoods?

Without a picture it is tough to know what it is. If it is a single wire with a cone shaped grommet, I believe it is for the clutch switch. This keeps you from starting the car without the clutch pushed to the floor. If it were for hood signals, those wires have female bullet connectors on one end. I am fairly certain that the turn signal wires do not go through the firewall. I can look at mine tonight if no one knows the answer.

Not a tach wire...    I remember it from a 70 Charger I worked on...       should be a blue wire with white tracer and a grey wire with a red tracer...           It attached to the forward wire harness -  i believe it is for the headlight motor on a 1970 Charger - not sure what it does on a RR

Here's a couple shots of my 70 RR.  The blue is after I repainted.  I don't know if this is what your referring to but the only plug I see is the one that goes to the auto tranny on mine.  Non ac and no tach

Nacho-RT74

oooh yes... is auto tranny plug, not blinkers... well I know hood blinkers have a similar plug around LOL... maybe a T plug ? don't remember LOL

the angles pair is for the auto trans...      the "T" style is for hood blinkers...         the male / female rubber one is for a headlight motor      :shruggy:

I looked at my firewall and wiring last night for my 70 RR. It is the hole for the tach wire. It is a hole that is drilled just to the right (looking at the firewall from the front of the car) and above the "plastic nail" near the connector block. On the pictures above where there is no hole, it show the dimple to locate where to drill the hole.
I was wrong. the clutch interlock wire has a smaller grommet and the hole is located to the left and below the connector block.

Tom asked me to post this pic for him of the plug.  I put an arrow to it.

yeah thats it  Im looking all over the net for a RR that has hood blinkers I think thats what its for. I do have the hood blinker insert but the guy before me put in a solid one. I don't have build sheet. maybe this was an option on this car but does not turn up on fender tag.  I don't believe every single option on mopars were all on the fender tag.

66FBCharger

My RR doesn't have a hole in that location. My car is an original lighting pkg. car.  As I understand it, hood mounted turn signals were only available in the lighting package (A01). I have the A01 on my fender tag. My turn signal wiring does not have a separate hole for the hood signals. My wiring goes into one of the cavities of the bulkhead connector. Check the factory service manual. that will show you where the turn signal wires go.

Ok I see now  where the turn signal lighting wires go. Maybe the guy that had it before me drilled the hole there for some reason. I am in Alaska now,  and did not crawl under the dash to see what the heck it goes to if hooked up to anything. Ill call my friend  whos shop it resides and see if he can determine what it goes to. as when I was there a couple weeks ago it looks so factory we were just guessing at what it might be for.
