Another beautiful (and surprising!) cruise around the neighborhood...with video

I needed a few 5-gal propane tanks filled up, and as all of my chores were done (mowing the lawn, feeding the plants, planting new plants, adding drip to those new plants, going to the Depot for tools and parts, etc.) I was going to take the '68 and throw (o.k., place gently :icon_smile_wink:) the tanks in the trunk and take a quick trip the the corner gas station. I know oh so well that the members here like lots of Vroom Vroom video  (me too ) and I am very happy to oblige. On the way I encountered a late model yellow Corvette (at 1:21 in the video) that was waiting to make a turn in front of me, and I noted "out loud" that he should wait.  ;)  More on him later.  :yesnod:  Here was my trip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ1eN0xD4jY.

It was a gas (pardon the pun) to thrash the car for a few minutes on a beautiful, sunny Saturday afternoon in Northern California. I was still holding the camera in my hand whilst driving (but an iphone mount http://www.extremepda.com/IPHONE3GS-SM215.html is on it way which should make for vibration-free recording. It will be too cool) so my apologies for the shakiness. At the gas station I took a few photos (they are attached), got the propane tanks filled and sedately made my way back home. Of course I did make a few 4-barrel accelerations on my short around the block drive. :coolgleamA:  As I turned down my street from the other direction I spied the same yellow corvette coming up the street. Hmm, a fellow Mopar lover no doubt. Boy, was I right. It was the President, John McDonald, of Mopar Alley (http://www.moparalley.org/), the San Jose club that holds the June 6th Mopar Alley Ralley show at Ohlone College in Fremont (http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,66444.0.html). He live a few stones throw away and had been wanting to meet me and my cars, and have me attend the show. We talked for a while and shared car stories and memories. I will see him again in a few weeks at the show, where a lot of our members will be attending. I will probably take my usual four or five hundred photos there and post them. The last photo is of John in front of my '68. He had to leave and help a fellow Mopar Alley member (female  :o) install the front end of her Superbird...a cool story of that barn find was told to me by John. It will be at the Ohlone show in a few weeks. What a fun few minutes...! What a great hobby! You just never know what's gonna happen in a Charger!

One of the coolest things about the 2nd gen is the grille. Why are your headlamp doors open? I love your license plate also.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Once again, thanks for the ride along...

...Why are your headlamp doors open?...

Would you believe I like it that way?   No? Then it is probably because I have a vacuum leak in the system and I have not yet found it.  :yesnod:

Nice sound, what are you running for exhaust??

Thanks, Bob. I'll check in the next few days. When I picked up the car a few years ago it appeared to be a stock exhaust (not a "brand" name like Borla, Flowmaster, etc.) and I did not check further. I like it also.  :icon_smile_big:
