Hey gang.
Looking to help a buddy do a conversion. He has a '67 GTX 440 4-speed car and wished to convert to a power steering set.. I have a power steering gearbox out of a '68-'70 Body from what I know. I'm thinking this will work in his '67. I also have a big block Federal power steering pump with bracket, so he's covered there. I'm almost positive that a power steering column is shorter than a manual version, so I'm sure that needs to be changed out too. Will a steering column out of a ' 69 B-body work, or will it need to be a '66-'67 version.

Thanks.

the manual steering column is longer than a power steering column shaft.

No idea on if the 66-67 is the same as a 68-69...

I am going from power steering to manual steering in my 69 Road Runner...    it would be good to know if the columns interchange.

The columns are the same between manual & power steering, it's the inner shaft that is the difference in length. Manual steering shaft is longer. Everything else about the column is the same

66 is by itself, 67-69 is different because of the collapsible column

Is the interior outer shell the same between the '67 and '68/69? I have two spare power steering '68/'69 columns and if they would work, they would be great candidates for the conversion. We'd just need to pull off his '67 steering wheel and reinstall on the power steering column.......
