Ignition wire length

I need to replace the ignition wire for spark plug #8 on my 440 because the rubber boot broke up.

I have some extra new ignition wires - one of them is about 1-2 inches longer than #8

can I use this ignition wire or do the wire need to be the exact length??  I'm thinking a longer ignition wire may affect the timing/firing of #8 because it is longer.

you can use it.. just make sure the excess does not hit bare metal or is near your exhaust.  i.e. tie off the excess in a safe place
