Okay stay with me on this one. Ive got a 70 Charger 440/727 currently but I want a manual trans. (ie 833) but I'm really not big on the stock interior of the 2nd gens where as the I love the 3rd gens specifically the  steering wheels and center consoles. So theoretically would it not be a possibillity to throw in an 833 and with the proper linkage make it work with the 3rd gen console in a 2nd gen car? Would it be a simple matter of attaching 3rd gen linkage and dropping in the console? Hope I'm not offending any of the purists here.

would need to relocate the shifter plate brackets and everything related. Shfter on 3rd gens fits CLOSER to the body and to the center of the car ( reaerward than second gens )... thats something I LOVE... 2nd gens same as all A bodies have to extend your arm to get the shifter from Parking. No need for that on E Bodies and 3rd gens, where you barelly move your body to shift. Thats on autos. On manuals is more less the same. I think the best would be get the propper manual tranny floor hump ( AMD ) and replace that piece. Then console brackets are available also from AMD.

Manual consoles are a litle hard to find, but actually you can find some templates to make the propper cut on an auto console to fit over the hump... then the top plate is being also reproed now.

Wheel... which wheel?... the advantage is column on 70 and 3rd gens is same diameter due the same ign key location, so any change you want it should be a plug and play job

I know a guy with a '68 thats got a 3rd gen auto console (with slap-stick) in it. I don't know what kind of mods he done, but it looks good in there.
