72 Rallye, 440/4 spd here.  Finding parts for the 71-72s can be difficult in some cases.

I've done some suspension upgrades, using Firm Feel's stuff. Highly recommended.

I'm going for a fun, modified rebuild.  The Vin says its supposed to be a H class (high), 318 2BBL "LA" engine.  The guy told me there was a 440(non magnum)/727 in it but it wasn't the stock engine.  I'm working on the pics right now.  Not too bad for $1600, i hope haha.

it looks a good core to begin... not big visible rust spots at least, just some dents and thats not a headache!

Its not in bad shape at all.. except for the roof.  I need to find a replacement full sheet metal top or do alot of patch welding.  Maybe Santa will get me a welder and show me how to use it for xmas haha. :smilielol:

They are an absurd kind of chopper. It was not too long ago when I first saw one in person as well. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed an attack/transport chopper all in one...

Sounds like you got a good deal as long as the engine/tranny is usable and no hidden major problems. My 16 son has a 72 that we bought in the spring and have been restoring together. It was originally a vinyl top. His was really rusted when we got it but hadn't rusted thru so we just used that stuff that neutralizes rust and did a couple of thick coats of that. Then followed up with a heavy coat of primer and then a few coats of paint and finished with a few more coats of clear. Saved us having to mess with a replacement roof on it and since he is on a very tight budget, that was the cheap way to go for him. We did a thread documenting our entire restoration if you want to check that out. Here is a pic I took of Josh just today out washing his charger.
