Ball Joint Stud Removal

So I have my upper ball joint all unscrewed and the nut on the bottom is basically off. How do I remove the stud from the spindle. I tried smacking the stud with a heavy hammer and nothing. Do I need a special tool?

I decided to try to pickle fork it again and after swinging the hammer as hard as I could it came out.
