  That 2 1/2 minute commercial probably cost the gross national product of Zambia and contained maybe 20 seconds of actual driving... The car is ugly, sorry. I ain't drinking that kool aid.

All this aside, I do respect my wife's 1983 380 SL vert. It's one hell of a car, a bit heavy but fast enough, and burbles along happily without much fuss. Only thing we had done that I didn't want to do is change the timing chain from a single to a double-roller - no biggie.

We had a 99 E320 until last year. Great car, extremely well engineered, lots of comfort, decent mileage and fast (V-6) too. The Spies-Hecker paint used on these cars is second to none, which is why they don't scratch easily and look good for years. These are most of the pluses............now for the down side.

Our E320 went through light bulbs like nobody's business. An oil change is $110 minmum. A new battery is $245. Windsheild wiper blades are $50 etc. The point here is that they bleed you on parts, service and repairs. They don't mention that of course, you'll only hear it from other current or former Mercedes owners - a great many of whom sell their Benz off for just these reasons.

Great cars if you have lot 'o money.

If you freeze it at 2.06 you will see the lights in the tunnel are missing for the car to go up yet unbroken on the side to go down? (When the car goes down there is a gap in the lights for the car to pass through)

I don't hate Mercedes, in fact I LIKE A LOT MERCEDES... they are better build quality than any american car, and lot better handling/suspension/braking too. When I'm not driving my Charger I drive a 75 280S Mercedes
