Randy, that is absolutely not true. A fresh engine should be broken in for the first few thousand miles on regualar dino oil to allow the rings to properly seat up but after that you can safely switch to synthetic lube.

Personally, i prefer dino lube with an EP additive and change it at 3k religously. As long as you keep clean oil in your bulllet you should never experience an oil related failure.  ;)

Remember, that with Synthetics, any "small" Oil Leak, or even a "sweat", will usually become a proper actual "Bigger Leak", or a "Leak" Period !

It's because Synthetics are much slippery'r, they get through where Dinosaur Oil doesn't.

Don ,t know about Royal purple, but I use  Castrol syntec 10w40 plus comp cams breakin lube in my 446 since breakin was over.

Too many advantages to synthetic oil to not use it in a performance application.

hmmm  :scratchchin: I did not know synthetic finds the leaky spots easier, good tip  :2thumbs:

Do you use a zddp additive?  I am convinced RP is good oil.  The only thing I am unsure of is whether their oil (other than the racing oil... $$$) has enough zddp.  I think their site also says that additives are unnecessary and mess with their formula.

The w15/40 and w20/50 containes more zddp than the w10/40.

Has anyone tried the XPR line of royal purple oil? It says it has more zddp than its regular line.   :shruggy: its a bit pricey though but sounds good.
