I need to cut of approx 1/4" of my new Gunslinger grillemolding, the long piece. The reason is that the cornerpiece will not fit perfect otherwise, the grooves in that one
are not long enough on one side. Is using a metallsaw to prefer instead of the grinder to reduce the risc of miscolouring due to heat? :scratchchin:

They might be called metal shears over there.

Always best to use carbon cut-off wheel in grinder...

I would use a Dremel tool.
68 Charger, slowly in the works, 451 c.i. approx. 535 hp @ the flywheel, so far best time in the 1/4
11.21 @ 119 mph, full exhaust, stock suspension, 4:10s @ 3640 pounds.

Sometimes also called aviation snips.....

Mototool as mentioned or air die grinder with thin cutoff wheel being careful to not heat up moulding.  Cut a little long and finish with good file while holding moulding in hand.  400 wet or dry sandpaper on block to finish edge.  I'm thinking that tin snips would end up deforming the moulding.

Why doesn't it fit?

The cornerpiece has a cutout on the inside to fit over the long upper/lower molding but for some reason my long piece is a little bit too long to make the cornerpiece
make a perfect fit on the doorhouse.

I would also think the airgrinder to be the best choice here since the molding is in a U-shape.

Thanks all.

Do not use them scissors, since they can / will deform the U shape of the molding.

You can use a cutting wheel on the molding i guess since they are aluminum (the original ones are). I suggest You use thin cutting pads or like stated already in one of the above posts, a Dremel tool on a uncrazy rps setting....
