i also had one more question

i have a 73 dodge charger by the way

has the orignal 318 in it

im wanting to put a 440 in it

how would i go about do this?

You need a big block K-frame to start with and then a big block transmission or bell housing depending on if it's a standard or automatic. You'll also have to have the exhaust changed to match the big block. Those will probably be your biggest expenses.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Shumacher services offers conversion mounts noadays so Dumping in a 440 where a 318 was is a no brainer.....

I did that swap. Used Schumaker mounts. Eventually the 440 will break your 8 1/4 axle if you drive it hard. So 8 3/4 axle and new rear springs. BB radiator, accesory brakets, electronic distributor, driveshaft . Alot of little headaches.

I don't mean to hijack your thread irishluck but I have a question..

I will be doing a 318-440 swap in my 68 charger, will I need a new K-Member? or just new mounts?

just new engine brackets, your K frame is the same between small and big block.

Schumaker makes a addaptor spool type poly mounts that will seat a rb engine in a v8 (small block) k frame in the 73-73 Charger. Well made product . Does require alittle cutting and drilling on the drivers side of the k frame. $170

If you find a Big block k frame you can use the stock rubber spool mounts which are alittle smoother then poly. If you are going to do the front end rebuild the BB k frame might be a simpler choice.   :Twocents:

73 and up k frames are different due to Chryslers Torsion Quiet Ride system.
