Question about K&N stub stacks

I don't even know of anybody who uses these things but does anyone know if they are meant to be fitted inside an air cleaner or are they a stand alone unfiltered race only item?

I dont know but some of what I found sugested they offer little improvement.

they will fit inside the A/C & I have seen gains on the dyno , not huge but definatly a gain

Wow...they still making those?  Definately not worth the cost.
