Are there more commonalities between Dodge and Plymouth muscle 68-70?

The one way I can tell what year of '68-'70 Dodge or Plymouth I'm looking at is by the marker lights. They seem to be a common thread on all the Dodges and Plymouths between those years. Are there some other common features that stand out as much?

70 has the ignition switch on the column and no more thumbwheel for radio control.  Also, the glovebox door opens downward for 70.  68 has the ashtray door as a sliding trapdoor.  Those are interior features and I'm sure there are lots more.

It may mean getting up close but someone told me you can look at the numbers on the taillights and the year is molded into it (if they are identical styles).   I am not sure if it is 100% fool proof but it has worked every time I have checked it out.
Over?! its not over until we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!...Hell no! and its not over now!..(Germans? Pearl Harbor?...shut up, he's on a roll)

The 1968's do not have the round back up lights. The side markers are the big indicator and not as easily changed out like other items.

I guess I never really thought about it much except when looking at A bodies because the 68-70 B body's all have unique things like grilles and taillights that I recognize.

If possible I just check the Vin# in the cases of A or C bodies in junkyards. As for the drive by "what year was that?" the side markers are the best.

70 console shifter handles changed too.  Four speed of course, got the pistol grip and the automatics looked basically the same but with a simulated wooden knob.

Some people change out the shifters to make the '70 guys jealous though.   :D

Also, from what I have seen and read the '69 had both the wooden and chrome automatic shifter knob.

That's very possible.  The best way of all to tell them apart, is to just spends lots and lots and lots of time crawling over under and around every single example you come across until you can tell the difference in your sleep.

69's had the wood shiter on auto's as well. Only some of the early 69's still had the 68 chrome style. Well I shouldn't say only early ones as i've seen some really late built 69's that had the chrome style on them and they were untouched cars.

We don't mean the button Strat, but the knob it depresses into.
