Photos - 1985 Mopar Nationals (Dial Up Beware)

I scanned a bunch of old photos from the 1985 Mopar Nationals & posted them at Moparts since they were a little bit of everything, not just Chargers. A lot of people added photos to that thread, so I thought I'd share them on here too. There are some Chargers in there along with some Daytonas, so you'll have to weed them out if that's all you want to see. It was the first Mopar Nationals event I ever went to back in 1985. It was very impressive since I had never seen a Mopar only show that big before. I went back in 1988 when it was in Ohio, & then didn't go again until 2003. I'd like to go more often, but it's a long drive compared to Carlisle.

I drove my '69 Satellite convertible to it from New Jersey with my girlfriend, who is now my wife. We then went on to Canada, & across Ontario to Niagra Falls to tally up 2000 miles on the odometer for the whole trip, & most of it with the top down. I planned a week off for my vacation back then, but when I found out I wasn't getting paid for it, I told my boss I'd see him in two weeks. He was ticked, but they were desperate for help & I knew I wouldn't be fired. I wish I could just tell my current boss I wasn't coming in like I did back then, & just go to big car show when I felt like it. Well, I probably could, but there would be someone else using my office when I got back.

If anyone wants any of these pics emailed, let me know. They're reduced so I can post them here, but the originals are larger.

BTW, Here's the link to the post at Moparts.com in case you want to look at the other old photos from some other old Mopar events. There are a few worth seeing, so go look.

These were at the Chrysler Proving Grounds & at Milan Raceway. I didn't get the row of wing cars early enough, a lot had left before I got these pics. Notice how close we were allowed to be in the staging lanes during burnouts. No zoom lens here & there were people walking behind the cars with chunks of hot rubber flying. Now that's fun!   :o

Great pics, Man!!! Thanks for sharing!

Do you remember what the price tag was for the black Daytona? :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
