318 car. I have a 440 and 727 that I want to drop in.

Will it just bolt in using the existing kframe, bolts, etc?

I searched around, and according to the posts I've read, it looks like it will just drop in, but I want to double check.

with propper BB engine mounts, yes, will drop in.

then will need to get everything upgraded accordling with a BB car ( radiator, exhaust, driveshaft, engine wiring, T bars, Sway bar )

The motor still has the mounts on it. That's what you are talking about, correct?

what year motor ?... on 73 changed the mounts to spool ( bushing ) kind...

Be sure engine mounts are to pre 72 cars

the upper hardware parts that bolt to the tops of the motor mounts....the ones that bolt to the block itself  will need to be changed....the bottom half of the motor mount will still work!! :2thumbs:

440source.com sells a kit that allows you to bolt a 440 in place of a small block.

Nacho-RT74

come on, thats a piece that needs to be bought in one piece, forgett about the pieces separated... all you need is the right BB motor mounts that you could get at a regular parts dealer as any regular replacement, like you already had a 440 in place and needing replacement.

If engine already has the mounts and they are in good conditions, you are done, except if mounts are spool kind, 73 and later setup.

when i bought my motor mounts....they only came with the lower parts that bolt to the "K" frame  and they didn't come with the upper hardware....I've done quite a few small block to big block swaps and i had to get the correct upper mounting hardware.....unless the mount was bad....then i needed to replace the whole thing.  Assuming we're all talking about 2nd generation...most auto parts outlets sell those pieces separately.  This picture from NAPA shows what you get when you buy a motor mount....upper hardware is NOT included.  Small Block and B/RB upper hardware is different!!!

The steel brackets that bolt to the ears on the block and to that rubber biscuit are what you need to get. Big Block and Small Block are different. In 70, the small and big blocks used the same rubber biscuit.

If your car trans is a 727 already your golden there. But if its the 904 and you will be running a 727 your going to need a different driveshaft. also the columne shifter linkages are different

TylerCharger69

Motor is out of a 77 motor home. Tranny is a 727 short shaft, so I dont plan on using it. Friend of mine
said I should be able to sell it to a street rodder. I have another 727 that I will use.

Not sure what tranny was in the car, as I bought it with no drive train. How can I tell?

Another option I have, is I have an old 331 Hemi, but I'm thinking thats going to be way too
much work and expense.

Just make SURE you use the converter out of that Motorhome tranny (727) as it has a weight on it for external balance...

Is that particular torque converter balanced to that particular engine?

What happens if you need to replace the torque converter?
