I was wondering if anyone ever considered having the front side markers double as turn signal indicators? Im not thinking from a styling perspective but more from a safety one.  :shruggy:

Good point. Since my car came without front turn signals and no side markers at all (red side markers are a big no-no around here) I've been giving serious thought to some kind of LED-based system. Bright yellow should do it nicely. It's not like these cars have good lighting anywhere in stock form... The turn signals on my old '66 Dart were more effective as mood lighting than telling people which way I was going   :icon_smile_big:

I believe that in 1968 the Feds mandated that all cars have side marker turn signals. Except for the 69 models where Dodge found a loophole and they went to reflective lenses to save money.

I think it can be done with a transistor, linked to the turning lights

Would be cool if the side marker blinked opposite of the front marker.  This would even out the load
on the system :scratchchin:

This can be done by grounding the side marker light to the front turn signal wire. This was done on 70's GM cars and trucks. When your lights are off, the side marker will flash at the same time as the turn signal. When your lights are on,the side marker will flash opposite.

Nope...68's & 70's never blinked when turn signals were on....I also have a '73 Pontiac Grandville, the side markers don't blink either....I think it started in the late 70's or early 80's

My 94 Dakota does however have the front side marker light flash alternately with the turn signals....
