Dodge Ram VIN locations?

Hey guys, i picked up a 96-97 ram with a 12 valve cummins today. it came with a clear title, but i noticed the title said 1990..    ok so they screwed up the number on the title, which matched the dash. well i come back and run the VIN on a decoder, uh oh, it says 1990 model. this thing must have been changed along the way.. where are VIN's stamped on 94-02 rams, dash does no good, door sticker is blank, is it stamped on the frame or engine bay anywhere? if so where. thanks for the help

It may be stolen & retitled?  Contact your local state police & have them check it out. If it has issues, better to find out now before the seller gets too far away.

Look around on the frame. Usually you can find one there, might be damn hard to see though.

yeah i'm as much curious to see what year it is as i am to get the right VIN and check it. it's a beater old 3500 single cab long bed, 257k miles, got it for $600. i really just bought it for the cummins motor which runs excellent.. but i was curious why someone swapped out the VIN and title.. i mean it's not exactly a desirable truck to steal. stranger things have happened i guess. maybe the guy lost the original title and had an old 90 on the property.. i'm just curious where to look and get the frame VIN. all i know is that the truck is obviously not a 90, but a 94, 95, 96 or 97

Have not actually looked to see for myself but I have been told that the vin is stamped into the frame on the pass front wheel area.
What model years it was done I don't know.Worth a look anyway.

The Body Code Plate can be found in one of two places, either on the floor under the passenger seat or on the front face of the radiator core support. It will have the complete VIN in addition to the normal accessory info found on a car fender tag.
