Are many Pro Street cars ever actually raced?

Or do most of them tend to be just high powered show cars?  I have only known a few guys personally with a Pro Streeter and they were all show cars really.  I've been looking at the pics of some of them that i had taken over the years and I just got to wondering.

While there are exceptions to every rule, like mentioned, most are just for "Show"...If a car with a 10.5 tire can pull 1.25 60 FT. times, then why on earth would someone need 31X18.50X15" M/T's on there STREET car, other than for that "look"?....

IMO, if you have those huge rear tires, all you are gonna do is attract the guys with not so huge tires to ask you to proove their worth on the street at best....Same thing with a mondo blown Hemi that runs in the 12's at the track, but the Rumor round the water cooler at work was supposed to be running in the low 9's 1/4 mile.....I've seen alot of 10 second street cars turn into 12 second drag cars real quick....
