What is the factory correct location for mounting the rear end ratio tag?   I've seen them mounted on the passenger's side mounted on the 2nd stud above the filler plug, and I've seen them on the driver's side mounted on the stud that lines up with the axle tube.

Isn't the passenger side one a "Sure Grip" tag and the drivers side the ratio one? (thus making both positions somewhat correct depending on which tag you are asking about)

Thanks guys.  When my car was restored the SureGrip tag was placed on the passenger's side near the filler plug, and the ratio tag was placed on the stud just above it.

Thanks.  It went to Australia in 2007.   We own a white '68 Coronet R/T now.

as a general rule,
looking from the front ratio tag is approx 2 o'clock
suregrip tag ( 1968 and older only btw ) is at approx 10 o'clock

1969 and newer is a dab of red/orange paint at the filler plug to signify suregrip
