So you think you had a bad day... mine SUCKED! (Funeral, Truck, Bills)

Started last night when I accidentally clicked on a pop-up add on Photobucket while I was there. My laptop picked up a virus that it seems nothing I have will get it out. Then this morning, I was on my way to my Dad's funeral (finally after waiting forever to get the tombstone done and mounted) (and in case you don't remember, we had my dad cremated), anyway, my trusty Dakota of 5 years, decided it was time to have a breakdown on me. It was running great like normal until I got off the freeway. But once off, I noticed it had no power, and wanted to die out. Now this happened 10 minutes from the cemetery where we were having a grave side memorial, 15 minutes before his funeral was to start. Of course, My mom and her brother were up at the cemetery already, and didn't have their cell phones on them. I had no way to get ahold of them to tell them I broke down just outside of town. I finally remembered that I did have my Uncles cell number in my phone about a hour later while sitting there (I recently added it to my list, so I forgot being already stressed out). So, I finally got ahold of them after the funeral was over, and they got to my mom's house. I no sooner tell them what's going on, and the AAA tow truck finally rolled up. So, I get towed into town drop my truck off at a garage, and get to my doctors appointments for me and my oldest son. I went in to see if my knees are finally going out on me since they give me unbelievable pain if I keep them bent for long periods (like during driving). Kinda good news there is that my knees look real good after the x-rays (supprizing since at one point in my life I was 600 pounds). But one the other hand, I now have arthritis (I kinda figured that's what it was). So, after that and some blood work, and a meal, I ran some chores for my mom. So, I get a phone call from the garage my Dakota is at. To make this part of the story short, the intake manifold gasket (the way I understood it), sucked it self into the the top of the engine cavity, and was all collapsed inward, basically creating a super major vacuum leak (what the hell? I never heard of that one before). I guess they got the truck running, but barely. He asked me how it ran prior to the breakdown, and like I told him, great. He told me he never seen anything like this either to this extreme. Anyway, assuming this is the only problem, and this is the right fix for my truck.... $630. not including tax. I need this like another hole in my head. I got layed off in the beginning of October, I already had 2 unexpected bills with one of my cats that needed eye surgery, plus one other unexpected bill. So, my mom let me barrow her car til my truck is fixed, which I hope is tomarrow. A 2003 Buick Century is NOT the easiest car to get in and out of after not driving any kind of car for 5 years. I forgot how low cars sit to the ground. :P

In the end, this is the 2nd time I missed a relative funeral due to a breakdown. I missed my grandfathers in the '80's when the semi I drove blew the turbo on my way home to his funeral, and trapped me in Michigan for 3 days. Now this, my Dad's. Unbelievable. :icon_smile_dissapprove:

The doc gave me medication called Nabumetone 750mg. I guess it is a generic prescription Ibuprofen. Works pretty good. I got to go to the doc again this coming Tuesday now because the blood test came back showing my bad cholesterol level jumped up enough that he wants to put me on a cholesterol lowering medication. I must have officially hit the "old" category as that means I will be taking 5 daily medications now :P

Did you see that gal that had her face, eyeballs & hands tore off by her friend's chimpanzee pet?

Whenever I start feeling sorry for myself (and it's been a doozy of a year), I remember there's lots of folks worse off than me.  :pity:

Sorry you missed your Father's memorial.
