Well This is a quick rant...       My 6.1L hemi has a fuel rail connection fitting no one seems to know about...

I was told production engines use a standard quick disconnect fitting (3/8)...

And the newer crates have billet rails that use a -6AN hose end...

My fuel rail (apparently the only one in the world) uses some odd-ball wazoo type fitting - and no one seems to know what fitting is used there...

How is it even people at a dealership have no idea what fitting is needed here....

what type? and year? vin number also help.

john.v

hope this will help you

In the dealers defense, they likely don't have much experience with the crate engines (that is what you are working , right?)

autodynamics

get in touch with in line tube they will have an answer for you and there in your back yard

I was told it was a crate engine...     but the early crates just got the standard factory fuel rails. the new crates have the billet AN rails...

John V. Thanks for the photos but neither of those are what is used   - but thank you for the pics

The next step is to take the intake to the dealership tomorrow and put it on their counter and say "ahem...    ummm    wtf?"     :nana:

Here is the fitting in question...      I'm sure it is a very basic fitting that is required - however, shouldnt Mopar know what fittings were available on their engines ?

I just took a look at my fuel pressure tester and it's fittings. NOPE.. Nothing like that in the kit and it's only a few years old..

Good luck and post up when you figure it out.

Another - it does appear to use the flare inside as a sealing surface and NOT the threads...      :scratchchin:

Which dealership did you go to? Call or go to South Bay Chrysler Jeep Dodge and ask for John in the service Dept. Can't guarantee that he'll know, but the odds are good. Tell him Ponch sent ya!

Definitely a flair fitting. Looks like ford and mopar fuel filter fittings. I don't think you'll have much trouble finding it.

how crazy that a pic of your motor...small world

Rolling_Thunder

hmmmm    interesting - just a 90* fitting...

Interesting fact- the only deduction a friend of mine made was that the engine was for an export car - apparently european cars do not allow the standard quick disconnect fittings ?   Rumor or truth ?

I mean that would explain this mystery fuel rail - but jeez - it is just hard to imagine mopar makes 3 different sets of fuel rails...      :shruggy:

mopar only makes one set of rails the fitting was from inline tube and was a compression fitting on to the original fuel rail. i still have not talked to him but am positive what it is. you just need to get the fitting or change the fuel rail and put another fitting on the rail....here is a pic from mine....

That is one hot car!

AHA!  got it - well it is a compression fitting and nut...    Found it in their catalogue -         I have a ton of misc fittings - guess I'll figure them out tomorrow -  I might just dremel that bad boy off and use a factory quick disconnect...      All my other connectors will be QD type anyway...

Guess this finally got figured out - thanks a bunch guys

Just throwin this out there from when I was doing my 3.9 to 5.7 swap. The 3.9 fuel line had a 3/16 fuel fitting while the hemi had a 1/4. It was like the ones you guys posted diagrams of. I just cut a 3/16 fitting from another 3.9 fuel rail I had lying around and had it welded into the 1/4 hemi rail. I do not have a TIG so I took it to Slims Hot Rod Shop on 10 and Gratiot. He did the welding perfectly and have never had a leak.

I know S&P has an adapter to go to AN I think but I didn't want to spend that much on it.
