I thought I'd check in before I started firing out questions.  I've been registered for about a month.  Great site!  Great resource!   I only wish I would have found DC.com sooner.........

I've owned my Charger since '84.  Started this journey a few years ago.  I'm finally out of body shop jail AND off body shop parole.  I can't complain much after reading some of your nightmare posts.  I am in absolute awe of the complexity and scale of some of the DIY body work being performed in your garages. I wish I had the talent and the guts....

Status: The engine is rebuilt and back in but, that's about it.  Grille work is on tap for the winter.  Along with a great deal of RESEARCH before I do anything else.

Thanks for spending the time to volunteer and document all of this combined experience! I no longer feel like a deer-in-the-headlights.

Ray

Attached are some pics of my project, sorry they're a little weak (also, not sure about "resizing").

Thanks for the welcome!

I split my time between Northern Ohio and Atlanta so progress is slow(car is Ohio w/no heat). Next summer will be spent on brakes, engine compartment detail, and reinstalling vent windows.  I discover a new project every time  I log in here.

It is originally: B7 blue, blue interior, stripe delete, white vinyl top, column shift auto, from Bakersfield California.

When I purchased it, it was silver lacquer (Shelby charger silver?), black stripe, no vinyl. I converted it to a floor shift and black interior after I bought it.
Nice driver until the lacquer gave up the ghost.

Engine rebuild is nothing special, just a step up from stock with a little more love in the cam. New paint is 68 (A1), just liked it better.

I was fortunate.  The body work only turned up a replaced fender and a dent in the rocker to accompany the known "butt dent" in the quarter and the start of rust by rear window corners.

I'm wrestling with taking it back to a column shift. Any thoughts? (Column is still on the donor from 84, wish I still had the other donors).

Is that close to A4 Platinum? Lighter or darker?  Great color. I love the way the lines pop out with that color family.

Hey Dan,

Paint is correct for a 1968 (at least it is supposed to be).  It was listed as A1 on the old 1968 dodge chip sheet I used.  I can't remember which paint manufacturer the sheet was from (I had a couple).

So stripedelete being your username, does that mean this is an R/T with a 440?

Welcome to the site.

Welcome to the site.

Yes, it is an R/T w/a 440.  I had the shop fill the emblem holes in case the exterior combo warranted a stripe.

Anyone need a black R/T stripe?

What part of Ohio you in? I'm in Huber Heights and understand the rotten winters we get also.

The largest brick home community in America?  Guess I spent to much time on I-70.
