I recently learned that my uncle survived a direct head on in the 60's.  He wasnt wearing a seatbelt and laid down on the front seat at the last moment.  I dont think he even went tot he hospital.  The other driver died.

Very lucky.

If British vehicle inspection standards were instituted in the USA, several entire states' worth of people would be brought to a halt overnight. 


In the USA we seem to have collectively decided that we don't need safe & properly driven cars if we can just shove enough airbags into them.
