Guys, take a look at this 68 383 car. He has it listed as an RT, but a 383. Please tell me what you would pay for it.

I found a listing on CL, I think he wants 8500 which to me is very high, but it comes with 2 440's, 2 tranny's 1 auto and 1 4 speed.

Thanks all.

Well first off, it certainly appears to be NOT an R/T, which instantly decreases its value. Second, primered cars scare me, so I would definitely have to see it in person and take some magnets to it and watch then slide and possibly fall to the ground. More dollars off. Original drivetrain? I'm no expert like some others on here, but it seems that 6 gs would be more appropriate - but that depends if the magnets take to the body or not. Just my 2.

hey thats better than the road runner I saw with a Original Hemi 440... :brickwall: Some people are plain dumb

Well, it is not an R/T....:popcrn: Looks like a 383 2-bbl auto car. 6 to 7K would seem an appropriate purchase price.

Interestingly, did you notice on the sail panels the addition of the dodge "dart" emblem after the Charger emblem? I have never seen this on any other '68 except for the pre-production photos and a few members cars in this directly related thread. http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,53761.msg594012.html#msg594012

If these emblems are factory installed then this car you are thinking about is probably an extremely early production unit.

It looks solid but that primer concerns me too

Hey has a pretty cool BOOM BOX included.   :icon_smile_big:

Thanks guys. I too was wondering about the primer. I would probably go with 5K and see if it sticks. I am concerned that there are no pics of the undercarriage. Being a NY car the rails concern me, especially because it's sitting in grass, we'll see. Maybe I can go look this weekend.

Definately not an R/T car....and what about that VIN?   it starts off as just having an "X"  no "XP" or "XS" must be a reason why that digit wasn't included.  It looks solid, but it also appears, if you look closely,  it's had some bondo work done.   I'd like to see pics of the undercarriage.....from the rear end personally.... :Twocents:

Good catch Tyler. I noticed that last night. I'm driving home from work going...hmm what's an X9? must be a rare RT...
If I get out to see it this weekend I'll get some photos.

I bought a 68 383 auto car last august. it seemed to be in the shame shape as the one you posted mine had no rust it came origonally from arizona I paid 9k for it with a 440 and a 383 and 3 or 4 auto trans a few driveshafts a new windshield and a bunch of extra parts. it is a very solid car. and a perfect front clip.   Its really hard to tell without touching it in person and seeing all the fine details it (could) be hiding.

Funny thing happened today. I talked to the owner of the one in the CL ad and they aren't the same car. Crazy because they are minutes from each other. I am setting it up to look at hopefully in the next few days.

Yes...Because I have never seen a VIN like that.....Mine is XP9..........I think the "P" was excluded thinking and hoping that educated folk in this forum wouldn't take a gaze at it.   I could be wrong though....

Honestly from what i am seeing from the pics it looks like there are some spots on the body that need addressed but what 40 year old car wouldn't need body work and looks like there are parts missing from the grill but if you look close it appears to be all there except for the seats i didnt see them, and it even has the little dodge emblem between the guages. Definitaly would like to see the underneath.
