I ordered a pint of the PPG paint from Roger Gibson.  However, he did not know any of the information on how to thin it etc.  I am not a paint guy and would like some info as far as how much and what type of reducer to use in this paint.  I have mixed and sprayed other paints and do not have a problem as long as I know what products to use and in what quantities.  Any help would be appreciated.

I can't answer the question but I am kind of surprised that Roger Gibson couldn't.  You would think a renowned Mopar restorer would have that kind of info for a product he is selling??

It is an acrylic enamel and he said it was PPG.  I asked if he could just tell me what reducer and the mix or if he had the data sheet and was told no to all of them.  It was not Roger, but his counter part in Virginia.  Maybe I can call Roger and see if he has the info.  I will let you know.

Usually the instructions are either on the can or you get a separate piece of paper with it. My guy uses 2 parts paint to one part acrylic enamel (normal - not fast) reducer with Roger's/Franks paint....with great results. I just tried calling Roger to see how he mixes it but his phone is busy.....you must of beat me to it!  :2thumbs:

I did and he was a great help.  Apparently the guy that mixes the paint doesn't know about spraying.  However, Roger said to mix it with 601 DTR Reducer and that as long as it is not to hot to mix it 1:1 without any hardener.  Thanks for the help.

Good stuff! I think Roger needs to give Frank a little course on this stuff!  ;)

It also seems to me that they would be able to tell you what you need to go with said paint....hardner, reducer, catalyst....etc..... :shruggy:

I think Roger is the paint guy that knows all about mixing and Frank just sells the stuff.  Anyway, if you need info., call Roger.

Well, (and making crystal clear that I am in NO way questioning their knowledge or abilities-their work speaks for itself) if that is the case then I would think the sales guy needs to educate himself or tell the customer, "I don't know, wait just a moment while I ask the guy who does".  To just sell a product a tell the customer you don't know how to use it and leave it at that seems, I don't know, wrong.  Wrong and inexcusable in the case of Gibson and Badalson and the fact that correct paints are one of their primary products that the guy who "sells stuff" would be selling?
Again I point out that my question should not in any way call their quality or business into question, they are undoubtedly one of the best out there.
