I will be in GA & SC in a couple of weeks and as usual I have scheduled my travel plans so I have some spare time to poke around some salvage yards.  I plan on stopping at Year One to pick up a few items, this will save me some bread on shipping, duties and brokerage fees however I would much rather find some parts cars to look / pick over.

Does anyone know of some salvage yards in North Eastern GA or SC where a fella might run across some older Mopars?  I know there are dozens of web sites that list salvage yards but I like to try my luck here fisrt, then hit the web and then the back roads?

Thanks in advance!

Well,  I have bought a few things from Mitchell Motors in Georgia, where I do not know.  Mainly NOS stuff I couldn't find anywhere else.  Y1 is in the Atlanta area I think as well.
Over?! its not over until we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!...Hell no! and its not over now!..(Germans? Pearl Harbor?...shut up, he's on a roll)

Most of the places I know of have been turned into recycling centers now. Theres a place about 5 or so miles from yearone that used to have tons of old cars at any given time. At one point there had to be 100 old dusters inside the yard. I could always find rallye dashes, hoods, fenders, ect easily up until the late 90's.Now the owner crushes most everything that comes through the gates. I spent a big part of my teen years(80's) strolling through junkyards in Ne ga. I hate to say its all gone, but it starting to look that way.Twilt may can give you some info on some local places to go.

depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for 2nd Gen Charger parts, i cant help. finding them in salvage yards around here is next to impossible. I do know of a few well picked over 3rd gens.  There are some "mopar salvage yards" in the southeast, Mitchells, Stephens Perf., Bayer Boys.  unless you were really desperate and have more money than sense, i wouldn`t recommend any of them.

Mitchell Motor Parts is in Fairmount, GA (north west of ATL) They do not have a sales counter. They might let you stop by if you call ahead and are looking for something specific. They have NOS parts and some salvage cars.

http://www.classiccarsrotting.com - This place is in GA... somewhere! Does anyone know? I have emailed them twice with NO response. :flame:   They list NO phone number... A week ago I noticed that the site was having aome difficulties, images not showing up, etc. But I have also noticed they just did a recent update. So someone is there... I SEE YOU!   :icon_smile_big:

BUT this looks like an awesome salvage yard... you cant buy parts though... just whole cars. So bring you a trailer...   ;D

Again, can some let me in where this place is located in GA??

That might be Old Car City in White, GA. I haven't been there in years. They sell only whole "restorable" cars. I haven't been there in maybe 10 years but he really didn't have too many Mopars then.

I am working on a '69.  I have almost everything I need however I find that when I am standing there looking at a parts car, usually I spot something that I didn't even realize I needed.  I have found a few '69's in my travels - 2 in CA, 1 in MI, 1 in ON, 1 in TX and an RT in NM.  Each time I have scored some goddies off of them.  I find that I usually get "lucky" and run across a "Mom & Pop" type salvage yard that has some gems that they just consider inventory.  These are the type of places that don't have computers, one phone line and two dogs layin' in the office.  I have seen some real interesting places.

I have sourced a few names in GA & SC on the www and I will inquire over the phone before I go outta my way.  Sometimes these folks know of other smaller yards, like mentioned above, that have these hidden gems.

Is it possible for you to PM some contact information for this person?  I always have a handful of US cash when I travel to the United States - umm, don't tell him that though!  :icon_smile_big:

I plan on stopping in Columbia to meet Brad.
