Salvage yard is your best bet, most likely they will have 383's, 440's are harder to come by depending on where you live.

Where do you live? I have a friend that has 200 440's and he is selling some of them off. Shipping on the other hand could be a shoot load. He is in St Louis MO.

By the way, have you found out what is wrong with the 383 block?

Not really just that a piston came apart, and being that its the original engine, and that having the engine sleeved is so expensive, I think it would be just as well to get another block to start at 30 over.  I am going to go ahead though and dissasemble the 383 and have it checked though.  Shipping might not be too bad on those 440's for me I live in Oklahoma city.

Did you ever read the prices I sent you on fixing your block? $750 to $1000 is chump change of sort's. Before you buy a thing, find out what is wrong with your 383. Heck, you don't even know yet if the block is hurt.

I do know of a 51,000 mile 400 toward your neck of the woods. PM me and we will talk. It is in KS city KS.
