Hey Guys,

Finally, I have my 68 Road Runner back in it's factory LL1 Turquoise.  It's been a little over 1.5yrs, and the entire AMD catalog later and I have a car again!  I did all the work myself except the sandblasting and can't wait to get my customer's 68 Charger R/T into paint later this year for him.  Enjoy another Mopar brought back from the brink of death!!

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Just a quick description of what exactly I replaced starting at the front:  lower radiator support, hood latch support, hood, one piece floor, rear floor pans, entire passenger side rocker panel (spliced in above the lower door hinge mounts), passenger side door jamb, passenger side inner rear interior panel, rear frame rails aft of the axle hump, inner and outer wheel houses (one inner was retained and patched), one piece trunk floor, extensions, spring shakles, rear crossmember, rear tail light panel from a 69 Road Runner made to fit a 68 since AMD didn't have that panel at the time, both full factory quarter panels, donor 68 passenger side tail light housing, right side hood hinge mount, gas tank brace, trunk floor brace.....I think that's it.  I'm hoping to have it on it's own feets again and off that dolly by the end of the year.

What are the plans?  I'll be adding a black vinyl top, black/turquoise interior (mine was H4X - black only but I want to add a splash of color to it), steelies with dogdish caps wearing redlines, and power?  Original plans were for a hemi, but I may go newgen hemi or keep it a 383 but stroked.  We'll see.  If you've followed my cardomain sites on this build, it defenitley shows you that ANYTHING is rebuildable.  Hope you like the pics!

It looks good, I like it! I vote for the stroked 383 engine, with 383 emblems in the hood. :2thumbs:

Thanks guys.  Now maybe I can get Troy to shed a tear or two in rememberance of his 68 Charger.  Matter of fact, we live about 20 miles from each other so when it's done, I'll just have to drive by his place...reeeeeal slow .   Maybe give him a flashback or something :2thumbs:  Time to start thinking about putting the 69 into paint.  I think I'll be sticking with the B5/White combo it came with from the factory.  Thanks for the compliments ont the Road Runner.  I can't wait to order some parts for it other than sheet metal for once!!!

Love the color on the Plymouth.  I had a 68 Road Runner many years ago with the hood blackout paint like that but the rest was red.

Hi Dave,

The Runner looks great. I knew it would turn out fantastic. Are you going to build a Hemi for it?

Nice.  Curious, did those AMD qtrs need any touch-ups?  How was the fit?

68RRFlyer

I'm still leaning towards the hemi, but now that I have a 69 Charger as well, I  may put the hemi in that and make the RR a 383.  Not entirely sure just yet.  I have a long way to go there, that's for sure.  Vinyl top is next followed by the weather stripping, then electrics.  Fun stuff!

AMD stuff fit well.  I actually had to use a goodmark one piece trunk floor since the AMDs were all sold out when I needed them.  The quarters fit nicely.  I blocked them of course, but they are pretty straight out of the box.  Only dings were because of me, really.  The one piece floor pan fit perfectly like a giant puzzle piece.  It was nice putting all new metal on the car.  No rust anywhere!!!!

I have the two piece AMD trunk floor that's going into the Charger later this summer so that should be a fun easy project.  Hopefully the fit matches the other AMD pieces.
