Anyone try trim rings with 15" Magnum 500s?

I have them on my Road Wheels 15x7
I had them made up by Specialty Wheels

Are those trim rings the same as for 15X7 Rally Wheels?  Wonder what they would look like brushed?  The Magnums, or Road Wheels, I can't remember which ones used the trim rings, are flat.  The 15X7 trim rings are rounded and may look funny.  I have no idea.  I'm looking out my window at the simulated mag wheel hub caps on my Dart, and the Magnum 500s on my Charger.  They look similar.  The hub caps have larger proportions, with a thinner outer section where the rim would be on a real wheel.  The Magnums have a smaller center, and when going up to 15", the center is the same, and the rim itself is where the extra inch comes from.  The same thing is done with 14" and 15" Rally wheels.  The 15" Rallies look good, and the 14" Magnums look good, as far as proportions go.  The aluminum 17" and 18" Magnums have a center that is too big for my tastes.  They are also too square on the edges.  Well, the 15" wheels are better than 14".  I guess I'll get chrome 15" Magnums.

Chris:

Your wheels look fantastic.  I really like the look of the trim rings with the 15" Magnum 500's.

I'm looking to swap wheels to 15" Magnums when I make the change to disc brakes.  I wonder if you explored if a brushed finish was available for the trim rings?

Thanks!

Neal, at the time when SW first came out with these they told me they would brush finish the rings for $100 EACH...I politely declined at the time.
Also i think the spokes should be brushed as well?

Underneath the ring the rim is painted black like original....they arent chromed

Chris,

You are right, the spokes on magnum 500 should be a SATIN chrome.  Not a full shine chrome like the center caps.

Thanks for the responses, gents.  I can understand your decision to opt out of the brushed finish, Chris.  I'm sure the wheels & rings were expensive enough.

I guess I have the answer:  I can have 15" wheels made in the brushed finished I'd prefer (to mimic that of the factory 14"), I will just need to sell one or more of my children to finance the bargain...

Anyone ever consider adding a set of spinners?  Heresay, I know.  But I like 'em!

Neal that price quote was about 7+ years ago when they first came out with them....the price (hopefully) should be a bit less now.
FWIW it was around $850 shipped to my door from Washington state for the rims, lugs, caps & rings....they even took one back because it had a bad weld in the center and leaked air....

I wonder what it would take to "satinize" the spokes? :scratchchin:.....maybe a new can-o-worms to open up??? ;)

Chris,

Its a risky chance but you might be able to "scuff" up the spokes to give them a brushed appearance.  Only downfall is that once you scuff chrome, the only way to restore it back would be to have it rechromed.

Thanks Chris, I saw that car for sale yesterday on Craigslist.  I think it's local (San Jose, CA).  I like the look of the spinners on the Mag-500s.   However, I was surprised that, for the price of that car, they didn't replace the checkered flag decal on the spinners!

In the end, I've settled on the following new Life Goal once I add front discs:

15" Magnum 500's
Brushed spokes on the wheels
Brushed trim rings
Chrome spinners
New spinner stickers!
