Replaced the power brake booster on my 69 Charger today. When I took it out of the box the center push rod fell out. Well I put it back in measured it against the old one and put it all together. The brakes seem to work fine. So my question would be is the push rod suppose to come  out? I would think the pressure on the rod after you put the master cylinder on would hold it in place, but this is the first one I have done. Thanks Wade
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

I had my booster rebuilt and if I remember correct on my 69 the booster rod is clipped in and has a spring connected to it.  I pulled on mine and disconnected the spring.  The booster rebuild guy said that is o.K as the internal spring is over kill and the M/C will return the rod just the same.  It worked well for a short time and then I think the loose spring cut the rubber diagram and the booster failed and I had to ship it out and have it rebuilt.  Point being the rod floating in there is o.K.  How you were able to get it out is another issue, as mine was not allowed to fully pull out.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
