Ok  my 69 charger has decided to puff smoke from steering column when you press the horn button. I have disconected the horns and the relay and it still does it. It is not blowing the fuse or anything and the horn did not make any noise at all when hooked up. So anybody want to hazzard a quess as to where to start the search.

Sounds like there's voltage hooked to the wire going to the horn button. Have you installed a new turnsignal switch? You may have a couple wires crossed at the connector.

no changes have been made to this car in awhile. The horn worked not to long ago. I hope to get a chance to look at it tomorrow, depending on the weather. working evening shift cuts into the day pretty hard, so hopefully I will get some time to look at it.

Update

I finally got the chance to work on the charger and pulled the steering wheel everything looks good. pulled the cover for the wiring harness on the column everything looks perfect. started checking under the hood wiring harnesses and ran short on time, but check this out now it works. What the heck now. Well it is off to work for now, hopefully more time tomorrow and a closer look at the underhood wiring, man I hate undueing all that wrap.
