Cam selection for a lower compression 383?

Toying with the idea of sticking a bumpier stick in the 383 in my 68 Coronet wagon.
Car is stone stock other than HP 4bbl intake/exhaust manifolds. Motor is sound, uses no oil and no bad noises but it has the stock 2bbl pistons(lower comp)...
2.76 gear - it's our cruiser to shows and such.
It will be getting a hemi converter over the winter if the Keisler swap doesn't pan out.

I'm looking for something that will help it run a bit better than it does and have some lope at idle that will hopefully not require a spring change.

So, leaning towards one of these two choices:

or this:

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on these or other options!

Any thoughts? I'd like to get this on the way so it's back together in the next week...

Thanks for any input!!

Some swear by the Hughes Engines 'Whiplash' cams for low compression engines. Some don't like the numbers...no experience with them myself.

I think you'll do alright with either of the Lunati cams.
You could call Lunati and see which cam they recommend, I did and they recommended the 60302.
Forum here made the same suggestion.

I'd be leaning towards the 60301 in your case with the unknown compression and the 2.76 gear.

As for the Hughes whiplash cam, here's a link to it;

But I think you'll need new valve springs with it.

In fact, I've just broken in the 60302 in my 383.
(440 source heads, 9.5:1 compression, 1.75" headers, 4-speed manual, 3.3 diff)
Didn't have a chance to drive it yet, so can't comment on that.
Here's a sound clip of it during break-in.

You know it is possible to change the valve springs without taking the heads off.
If you're keeping your old valve springs check for coil bind and make sure you've got enough seat and nose pressure.

Cheers,
