Any significant hp gain on this 440 rebuild?

Hi guys,

I'm getting back to being involved with my ride (life stuff) and was wondering about what I actually ended up with on my 69 440 HP engine rebuild. I went the route of "close to original with a little kick" awhile back and was curious if there was any significant power gain I really came up with in hp terms. I know a dyno would reveal this but I thought I would consult the Mopar brain trust.

Intake and exhaust are stock along with the heads, and there's an edelbrock 1407 sitting on it.

I was also curious what you all thought the max safe RPMs are on this thing.

The Comp cam listed is duration 270/270 and lift is .470/.470. I believe the "Hyp. pistons" refers to hypereutectic pistons.

It feels strong to me but the car wasn't running before the restoration and rebuild so I can't compare it to what it was before.

Thanks

well you probably picked up a couple lb-ft of torque down low but that cam and everything else is so close to stock it is pretty much the same as the factory output.    :Twocents:

:iagree: Basicly a stock rebuild with a slightly better than stock cam profile.

Thanks guys,

I appreciate your input, looks like I accomplished what I was trying to achieve. Though I'm still wondering about the approx max RPM for a very close to stock 1969 440 Magnum.

5000 - 5500 rpm is all you will need anything more is just noise.

Somewhat of a side note here, I've been considering changing out the stock intake for the Weiand 8009 because I like the stock appearance and low profile. Do you think it's a good swap over the stock intake for performance?

~5500rpm is where that cam would peak

I don't know about peak but I would limit to 5500 RPM to keep the engine together..  With your specs I think you will be way over the horsepower curve at that point.   Anybody got the HP/RPM curve for a stock 440 engine??
