This is the plastic dealership plate that was originally on my car when it was new. Earl Marks  Oswego, New York. Anyone have plates like this on their chargers? This was placed just under the driver side tail light in the left corner.

Many of them were pot metal and holes were drilled into the cars to attach them.

I think they are not that common on these cars because back at the time, most were fairly tall. The trunk lip was the only flat surface on the rear and most dealers had plaques too large to fit. Most B bodies don't have them, but you will see them on the wagons and other Chryslers that had larger areas to accept the tag.

I forgot to say I have a dealer emblem on my Duster also. This is the original one. Johnston Motors, Vancouver BC. The original owner bought it off the lot and then gave it to his grandson years later. I bought it from the grandson last year.

Speaking of dealers,how could someone find out who sold the car orginally?

ITSA426

I worked for a company that manufactured those, as well as other die cast automotive and industrial nameplates.  Most were drilled and clipped, some held on with two sided tape.  Now most of them are plastic or just tape.  They started out as sheet metal stampings in brass and screwed to the externally mounted spare tire covers back in the thirties; at least for this company, which is still in business and manufacturing strictly in the USA.

Dealership info can be had from Chrysler Historical up to '67, if they haven't tossed it to save money, but that is to the dealer the car was shipped to and may not actually be the selling dealer.

maxwellwedge

Sticker and license frame.

Lennard

I have a sticker on my left quarter window, i Googled Celebrity Dodge and nothing came up. :scratchchin:

elacruze

Mine had two;

On the trunklid was a metal badge, "STANDARD motors"
On the bumber was a decal, "Jimmy Johnson Ford"

How cool would it have been to find my car in an old listing? I didn't even know this sort of search existed...

still supprises me that there are  very few dealer pictures around !! thought sure chrysler historical would at least have a picture of every dealer/ for  advertising etc , but  could only tell the name of the dealer by the dealer code number  when i asked about mine a good few years back !
