Hello all,

I have a few questions about purchasing the right oil pump for my 383, 4 barrel. I've seen so many price differences and options out there. For example, I've seen some for regular, high volume, and high pressure oil pumps. What about replacing oil pump seals, etc?

Basically, its not a high performance block, but I do have a Holly DP (600CFM), Performer RPM Intake, 3/8" fuel line. Based on what I have, which do you feel would be the best oil pump, or do any of these things really matter which to go for in the end?

Thank you for any replies,
All the best,
Aaron

Is this a new engine build ? What oilpan are you using ? How high do you expect to turn the engine ?

Hey Ron,

Thank you for your reply,

Yes, it has been rebuilt, but has been sitting for a few years. The guys at the shop recommended that it would be a good investment for me to replace the oil pump. The oil pan that I had purchased was from the Paddock, # 210016 (stock).

As far as how high I expect to turn the engine, I'm afraid that I'm not too experienced to know if I am answering this correctly or not, but basically the car is not going to be used for strip racing  ;). But, if I may ask, what exactly does this mean?

Thank you again for this newbie,
All the best,
Aaron
