Hi, I was told to use 15w40 castrol blend, or Valvoline VR1 racing oil 10w30, or Mobil Turbo diesel truck 5 w40, or mobil 5 w50, what's the best for this engine, i'm not going to race it, just street,  Thanks Sly

The Vr1 oil or Brad Penn are both good, with plenty of zinc additive and etc.  I would still put in a bottle of GM EOS (or Comp Cams lube Etc.)with each chance to be extra safe though. :Twocents:

Royal Purple and AMSOil both are good.  Not sure which to use of Royal Purple but AMSOil is 10W-40 for your big motor.  You don't need additional additives in it, plenty of zink.

Brad Penn 20-50.

Dan
20-50, NO WAY. Too thick. :Twocents: :shruggy:

I change my oil twice (atleast)a year in the warm summer months I run Brad Penn 20/50 with comp Cams lube. In the winter months I run VR1 10w30 with comp cams lube. I don't drive it in the winter but atleast when I randomly fire it up its not so thick in the cooler temps where I store it.

VR1 for me.. 1/2 the cost as royal purple with just as much ZDDP to get the job done.

Yeah, I thought about bringing this link up but remember how much I got ridiculed for what I said about AMSOil and didn't want to start another wave! ;)
