What color is a '68 4 speed bellhousing supposed to be?

I assume it's either the same color as the engine (in my case Chrysler blue) or the same color as the trans (bare metal).

The belhousing was bolted to the engine and they were both painted at the same time.
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Thanks. So what's a good way to clean dirt, grease, oil and old paint off a bellhousing and valve covers without burning 16 hours of time?
