Do anyone have a suggestion for what kind of heads, carburetor and cam for a 72 400 engine? Thinking of what makes the most hp, everything else is stock in the engine

Torque is what matters. :Twocents:

Aim for low RPM power, or you'll get terrible road manners and only have power above the useful power band.

Torque is the fun part anyway!  :drive:

You need to increase compression and select a cam profile that will work with the rest of the combo.  :yesnod:

A closed chamber head will boost compression and a cam with short duration numbers will boost cylinder pressure and increase torque.
