Does the torque converter only bolt up to the flex plate one way?  I lined up all the bolts, but when I was tightening them, I turned the crank and the converter touches the bottom of the bell housing now.  Did it fall off the shaft, or did I align the bolts wrong?!    :brickwall:

Sounds like it slid off. After bolting the trans to the engine you should have a gap between the converter and the plate if the converter is in all the way. The converter should spin free after bolting the trans to engine before bolting it to the plate.

Ok, I guess the whole assembly needs to be removed to get the converter back on the shaft?

When you pull the trans to reseat the converter ,check the trans.pump drive ears for damage.

The only way the converter could come out when you tightened the bolts is if you have the plate backwards.

Hmm..  Should the plate extend out from the engine?  I did what the book showed, I can't recall at this moment.  I think it's toward the engine right now.

Pretty sure that's how I did it...  Oh well
