Going to Florida for a week and the 500 is on when we are there. Does anybody have any good/bad stories about trying to get tickets at the race and any seating recomendations?

Get tickets as high up as you can afford regardless of the grandstand.    The backstretch is fine is you don't care about seeing pit road.   Nothing is worse than sitting low in the tri-oval and looking at the roofs of cars going by.

Check Stub Hub or even Crazed List.   The good seats are renewed year to year and the ticket holder is asked to pre-pay months in advance.    So you are looking for someone who might not use his seats this year.

I assume you're going to get them ahead of time.  I am pretty sure with the economy this year you might be able to get a decent deal on race day across the street from the track.   You're just taking a chance on where they'd be.

Did I mention to get tickets as high up as you can afford?

I would get them ahead of time. If I am not mistaken Daytona usually sells out. I have bought 500 tickets of E-Bay before too.

I sure it sells out but I would assume half of those tickets get resold. What would be the lowest row to get a good vantage from the frontstretch? I thought I read somewhere that scalpping is legal in Daytona now also? I noticed that they're not exactly "giving away" tickets on Ebay either. Me thinks NASCAR is going to get a rude awakining this year with the current ticket prices.

Personally I hope they get a rude awakening and take the cars back to actually looking somewhat stock. I refuse to go to any race now that they use the stupid car of tomorrow. Used to go to at least 2 races a year, now won't even turn it on the TV its not STOCK CAR racing anymore.

Best views of the entire track higher rows. Rows 22 and up.

Closer to the action, go lower. You can still see the entire track but a better view as the cars go by.

Nextel, Earnhardt and Petty towers (frontstretch) Best, at the finish line, higher price.

Roberts and Weatherly towers. (Second choice) less expensive, still great seats.

Depalma and Seagrave Towers. Best bargain, still good seats.

I'd buy them ahead of time. Less hassle and avoid fakes. Check Craigslist, even here in Daytona.  Mike
