Myself, I much prefer the look of a "spoked" style rim but a close friend of mine thinks steel wheels with optional hubcaps are the greatest thing going.  So how many others prefer the look of wheelcovers to wheels?

Alaskan_TA

Wheel covers are different (larger) than hubcaps (dog dish)

I like both though.

For the sake of argument I'm going to use the two terms interchangeably here.  It counts since I am basically referring to anything that isn't a styled wheel.  :icon_smile_wink:

Depends on what the "wheelcover" looks like, and what spoked wheel looks like...some wheelcovers are great looking, some wheels are great looking...

It's a toss up for me....I like both

Ghoste

Anyone have pics?  Obviously the 66-67 Chargers have some great covers.  What else is out there?  Nacho, what are the ones on your car?

It depends on the car I think.  I do like the old Super Stocks with the plain rims and or small caps on them. Also hubcaps are kinda starting to be a fresh change on some of the cars as you dont see them anymore as everything thinks they have to get some different fancy wheels.

Sublime/Sixpack

I prefer styled rims (Chrome Magnum 500's, Rallye Rims, and some mags).  I'm not a fan of wheel covers or hubcaps, except dog dish caps on the older cop cars.  :Twocents:

Either way really. Sometimes wheelcovers/hubcaps look better and sometimes wheels look better. Depends on the color combo of the car.
Mine had these on it when I picked it up. I was told that they were the ones that came on the car when it was bought new. :shruggy:

Thinking extra fat steel rims with dog dish!(went from rally to al. slot to plain black steel and kinda like it)

Nacho-RT74

I like both, but not every wheel and not every wheel cap either.

one thing is true, old school wheel caps are MORE ART PIECES than nowdays.

It's a factory cap then?  The ones on your car were what made me think of this thread in the first place.  I was looking at pics of your car and thought the caps looked pretty good on there and I was wondering how many styles there were and how many people preferred them but it doesn't seem to be a popular choice.  It seems like people like styled wheels or the plain steel and possibly a dog dish and not so much the full covers.  It surprises me a little because there was a lot of choice in covers when these cars were new so they were certainly popular at one time.

Nacho-RT74

yeap they are originals... PN 3580180 and listed on my Mopar Parts catalog for C bodies, however they were factory on 74 Chargers down here and some Coronets. I'm sure of that because I got 2 of them from original owner.

BUT although they are not listed for B bodies in USA I saw a pic of a 74 Charger in a book about 100 years of american cars with those ( book printed in USA ). Pic was aperently took from a dealer book or something like that.

Do you plan on leaving them on there when the car is finished?

Yes.  Untill i can save up (and justify) buying Kelsey Hayes wheels.  I'd like to find a set of 15" steel wheels to use though instead of the 14's on there now.  Oh and i lost one of my original dog dish caps that flew off on a trip back home this summer.  i can either walk the highway for 60 miles to try and find it or buy another one somewhere..  D'oh!  :brickwall:
