Well, let's see, the car has now been at the blasters' place 8 weeks.    :flame:

Says it will be ready on Thursday... again.

:brickwall:

patience....it's just time and money and then more time and money.......

Good Luck...the waiting is the hardest....

Restorations (real ones) take a long time. I have a picture of me with my oldest son when he was 6 months old in my arms next to the Charger as I was taking her apart. He is 6 now. He'll be 7 when it hits the road/shows.

Nothing ever goes as planned. You always find un expected problems and situations.  Amazing what you find after you strip a car down for restoration.

Just an FYI " Real " Restos aren't judged by how long they take , they are judged by the quality of the job done.

PS Don, you re car is looking great in the pics, but restorations don't have to take 7 , 8, 10 years to do in order to be nicely done.

Real Restorations take "a lot" of time. (not necessarily a long time)

money and parts, the more parts that are available the quicker and easier the restoration is the same goes with money the more you have to throw at a car the quicker things can get done. :Twocents:

Big Lebowski

Money, time, issuses, just plan on doing it forever. The good news is, you have lots of new parts just a click away. Back in the 80's & 90's we had to hunt in junkyards & Mopar spring flings for the good stuff.
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

Belgium R/T -68

My body/paintwork took 18 months, that's the heaviest waiting period according to me. The assemblywork may take all the time it needs
as long as the final result is the expected. I also bought most of the parts before I started tear down to be sure I could finalize the project.

Sounds like the blaster has plenty of work to be putting him off for that long.

bull

I must be doing a "real" one because it's taking forever. But now I'll have some extra moola coming in soon so things may pick up in the next month or so... I hope.

I consider mine to be more of a "restification" since I'm going for the factory fresh look but with some modifications, certainly wouldn't call it an OEM true restoration. I certainly wasn't holding my time-line up as a standard that's for sure. If I had unlimited funds from day one, no wife, no kids, no career etc etc I certainly would have had it done alot sooner. But that's life

If I ever restore another one it will certainly move faster given what I've learned. I guess I could have just bought a done car and saved some $$ in the long run however I really wanted the experience.

There are quite a few guys here that have gone through full (not cosmetic) restos and I've learned alot from them and hopefully I've helped others. Chargen69 is having his car media blasted, that suggests to me he is not doing a cosmetic/merchanical "resto" so I wasn't suggesting he wasn't doing a "real" (for lack of a better term) resto.

I used to have a partner like that. Always making promises that he couldn't keep, always B.S.ing customers trying to make/keep them happy (never did!). Hopefully since he has this wonderful state contract he won't do a half a** job on your project just to get it done.

For me, I live in suburbia and my car is at my In-Laws farm about an hour away which means I only get to see it on weekends, and not every weekend for that matter.

We have two young children that have a social life plus my Mother and Father like to see them as much as possible.  We too have a social life, plus we moved to another house just over a year ago and that cut into weekend time for the car as we have been putting a lot of time and money into the new place.

I've learned a lot about patience in the past four years!

I have the same situation, my place is just over an hours drive to my Dads shop back home.  After having kids there is very little time left for me to drive down there, work on the car, drive home, i was losing 3 hours a day being on the road when i could be working on the car.  So i moved the car up to my house and work on it in my own garage but my daily driver now parks outside.

OK, got the car back from the blaster's place.  Most of it is in really good shape (pics coming), however, the roof is a different story...

let's just say, anybody got a roof they want rid of?  ::)
