Here is my take on your fender tag codes (using Jim Shines Decoder http://www.jimshine.com/tag%20info/68tagdecode.htm). A 383 4-bbl, 4-speed, a 3.54 rear end w/Sure Grip, a 26" radiator, a tic tock tach...all smart options for a very quick ride! Send me the tag photo, and lots of photos of your baby, when you get your computer fixed!  :2thumbs:

Dan's 68 Thanks, yes, it is a console car. I learned more today than I ever have about my car. Can anyone tell me production numbers on 383-4speeds, and how can I find out if others were opotioned this same way? Or did I get lucky and get a 1 of 1 ? Please I hope so! Also, what is a body belt moulding?  One more thing, Is my car an early build car? Thanks to everyone for all the help!

There were qty 259 383 4-bbl 4-speeds and qty 74 383 2-bbl 4-speeds XP's made in 1968. As far as which were optioned any particular way no one knows...all records were lost in a fire a long time ago. Once we get a 1968 registry going we will have a better idea what is out there. Regardless, your car is a very nicely optioned example. And it is an early build, in that it was built in 1967. Production usually began after July 1 for the following years model. Send photos!!!!  :2thumbs:

:brickwall: That's be my take on it too... If I had punched in the right numbers.

At first I had cut and pasted the number in, but that decoder needs to have the right number of spaces in between the numbers - and can't have too many tacked on the end or else it won't take any more input. Things weren't lining up right. So, I just manually type in the numbers and that's where everything fell apart. :D
Sorry if I caused any confusion.

Don't sweat it. I can't tell you (all right, don't want to tell you) how many times I have had to use the "modify" button to correct something I had posted. I have been there before, and I will be there again. But thanks to Troy for the modify feature to save us idiots....  :2thumbs:

OK, I know MOPAR guys are always looking for a challenge.  I also tried the decoder, but was unable to make it work (I'll try more later). In the mean time, I've found a 68 Charger XP29F8B, appears to have been yellow with black vinyl top, white bucket seats, 318/auto, and is fairly complete except under the hood.  It has buckets, console, a/c, disc brakes, rear defrost, and currently has a 440/auto in it.  It's really rusty underneath the vinyl top and will need major rust surgery ((top, floor pan, trunk floor).  I'm familiar with the 69, but 68 fender tags are different.  Any help out there?  Thanks for your time.

Which decoder did you use? I use Jim Shine's http://www.jimshine.com/tag%20info/68tagdecode.htm. If you are still having problems post your tag and I'll give it a go.  :2thumbs:
