The Metal One has returned!

 :flame:That's right, the hard rockin, beer drinking, guitar shredding, Mopar driving metal head formely known as Goth Charger has returned. Been away for a while working and recently acquired myself a 1985 Chrysler Fifth Avenue. I've come to find that the original board is no more so a friend of mine informs me that there is a new one functioning so I had to jump on it. Hope to see some familiar members here as well as meet new one's and maybe get some pointers on modifying my 5th Avenue.

I'll post pics up when I get the lift shackles on the rear. So far the car is still stock though but I will have pics up asap. Can anyone tell me if my car's rear end is posi grip or open? I'd try the burnout test if my transmission was functional.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to tell if your car has a Sure Grip axle or not:

1. Drive out to a gravel road
2. Put it in neutral
3. Rev the engine up as high as you can
4. Drop the gear selector into drive
5. Spin the tire(s) and accelerate for 10 - 20 feet then stop
6. Exit and walk to the rear of the vehicle (IMPORATANT - make sure you shift the gear selector to park prior to exiting the vehicle)
7. Look on the ground at the gravel - if there are two tire treads on the road/gravel you have a Sure Grip rear axle, if there is only one, you do not.

Disclaimer: it is probably best to wear a helmet during this experiment.

since you said your tranny doesnt work,pull the rear end cover,if there is a bunch of clutch/spring looking things in the middle,you have sure grip,if not you dont!

i like the neutral drop method better myself,but its hard on parts

unless you're going dragging with these M-bodys, you will want to change out the front suspension ASAP to a B-body one.

Step one: drop the K-frame
Step two: get a B-body K-frame and tranny crossmember, and bolt them in
step three: weld in new upper control arm and upper shock mounts
step four: enjoy aftermarket support with new suspension parts.


I'm taking my car oval-track racing next season, I'll let ya know how long the old suspension lasts.

well....when you can't find the car you want the most (a Charger), go with the next best thing availiable. (Especially when all of the same parts bolt in!)

Actually, an M-body with a 440, widened black steel rims to fit 275/50-15's in back, and Cal-Trac's would make quite the sleeper!
