Hi, I was wondering if anyone has seen the 1975 movie Moonrunner which is believed to be where the storyline for the Dukes show came from. I would like to get a copy of it but have not had any luck at the local video stores and such. Thanks

It has to be available from someone on dvd because I have a copy.  I can't remember where (or even) I got it but most likely I just bought it through Amazon.  If you can't find it shoot me a pm.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Ghoste how come you are always up so dang early? :icon_smile_cool:
I know i'm up cause I can't ever sleep, hope you don't have the same problem.  :rotz:

Up early because of work but when I'm up late it's usually because I can't sleep.  (early and late being all relative in this case as they eventually meet in the middle)

BTW, your suspicion of a DOH connection is 100% true.  The same writer later that did "Moonrunners" in 1974 later developed his movie into DOH in late 1978.

"Moonrunners" is basically what DOH would have been in reality.  Honestly it's a very bleak & dark show in comparison to anything in DOH.  Try to picture DOH taking place a decade earlier, with no General Lee, no Daisy, and no attempt at sugarcoating the Duke family's sh*tty persecuted situation with Boss Hogg & Roscoe.

The car chases are still there, although the movie admits more body damage is occurring and the later GL's huge jumps aren't even hinted at.

The boys use a battered navy blue Plymouth Fury fullsize C-body 4dr as a whiskey runner.  Looks like 1970-72 by the front end and vent windows; gotta be a Fury I-III by the headlights rather than a Gran or Sport GT model.

A '55 Chevy dirt track car (a real one borrowed from a local racer) makes an appearance as the General Lee's ancestor.

Thanks everyone, I just thought it might be nice to check out a car type movie that I haven't already seen a hundred or so times. :2thumbs:
