Reliable Carb?

I have been doing extensive research here and noticed that no one likes Demon carbs... Being "green" about engine configurations I am hesitant to install the wrong parts on to my engine. 40 over rebuilt 69 440 HP, stock crank, KB pistons, port and polished stock heads, mild comp cam. I already bought a 750 Speed Demon carb w/ vacuum secondaries, edelbrock performer rpm intake and headman ceramic headers. Is this a decent configuration? I worry about reliability and drivability. I want to have a car I could drive from Ohio to Florida and back. I see and hear all the problem headers and carbs have. I have been thinking of using all my stock engine components, intake, HP manifolds, carb linkage etc... You guys have a lot more knowledge than me with it comes to these issues... I guess my question boils down to is it worth the lower horsepower better reliability or higher horse power with descent reliability? Does this make sense? Thanks! :shruggy:

If you are old enough to remember we took vacations every summer in Mopars with Holleys and Carter (Edelbrock now) carbs . I don,t remember not getting home because of a bad carb. Broken dist. rotor, yes. Blown bais ply tires, yes.

If your fuel tank is clean, fuel lines solid, fresh fuel and air filters ,good fuel pump, and your carb is working well today go see Disneyworld. Gas won,t be $1.50 forever!

I do carry a few spare parts in my tool kit. Mostly ignition parts. Spare fuel filter. no carb.

i'm a fan of high reliability in trade for a couple HP...        I like Edelbrocks...    but Holleys are fine ---     I F***ing hate Demon carbs...

Not a fan of Demon carbs here.

Honestly, a standard Holley 750 vacuum secondary or Proform 750 vacuum secondary would be a better choice, inmo.  :Twocents:

Headers work fine....use a good quality gasket like the Percy's dead soft aluminum and they will seal up, no problem.  :2thumbs:

The RPM intake is an excellent choice but it will create some installation headaches ; new throttle & kickdown linkage will be required as well as a drop base air cleaner assembly.

Thanks guys, this really helps. I'm  just a little paranoid because of all the cash I'm putting in this car... I want to try to make the best decisions. Thanks! John
