What would DodgeCharger people do?

I ask the question, give me your method on what works for you.

It has 400 miles on it right now.

When do I do my first oil change? 500 miles, or more.

Thanks

Break in for my 446 with new hydrualic lifter cam:

30 Mins 2000 rpm with sae 30 wt. and Comp cam breakin lube.  Change oil.

600 miles rottella T 15w40 plus Comp cams breakin lube. Change oi.

normal drain interval next 100,000 miles rottella T ( any descent oil) plus Addative.

Break in for 5,7 Hemi in truck:

1000 miles on factory oil. Change.

normal drain interval 100,000+ miles 5w30 synthetic

beat the piss out of it to get the rings to set... and drive it like a truck.. no towing or hauling (anything substantial) until after 1000 miles.

fluxuate rpms every once in a while by hitting your tow/haul button on your gear selector lever to do this... not all the time.. but some of the time.  All of these engines should be broken in prior to delivery.. so just be careful with towing/hauling.  its not a rebuild.. so you dont have to do the normal break in procedures that are called for in that situation.

The advice above is sound....1000 miles change the oil and filter. On new engines i like to vary engine speed like Jamey said. It should be pretty close to broken in with 400 miles on the clock.

Guess I didn't know if you meant a 5.7 hemi or a new build on a 426 hemi

On a factory engine periods of medium throttle acceleration help seat rings. Vary driving speed. Avoid going same speed for hours on end. Avoid w.o.t to redline for a few hundred miles.  :Twocents:
