Answer the following to the best of your knowledge. Be prepared to be challenged with providing factual evidence to back up your claims.

#1. What parts or areas of a 1968 Dodge or Plymouth B-body would match the Vehicle Identification sequential number? (Number found on the VIN tag)

#2. What parts or areas of a 1968 Dodge or Plymouth B-body would match the cars SO number? (the number found on the fender identification tag)

#1. What parts or areas of a 1968 Dodge or Plymouth B-body would match the Vehicle Identification sequential number? (Number found on the VIN tag)  The vin number (actually the 8B****** of the vin, if it was a Hamtramck car) would match the transmission stamping (if it was stamped), and the engine block stamping (again, if it was stamped) Early production cars did not always have power train identification stamps.

#2. What parts or areas of a 1968 Dodge or Plymouth B-body would match the cars SO number? (the number found on the fender identification tag) The SO (shipping order) number would match the body stampings on the radiator support lip and the trunk lip.

See http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,38316.0.html. I don't believe that the pumpkins were stamped, but a tag may have been attached. If you have different information I'd love to see it! :yesnod:

1) None would completely match except maybe part (last 8 digits) on the engine and trans depending on the plant and the build date

Last 8 digits of V.I.N. found at top rear of engine on 1968 engines up until about May 1968.  I have seen some instances where there was no V.I.N. found after that date in 1968. Last 8 digits of V.I.N. found at top of Automatic in 1968 up until about May 1968. This is the same situation with the digits as the engine block.

2) It would be on the rad support and the secondary location - usually the trunk lip-   Plant, Year, 1st digit of V.I.N. and SO number

Gotcha! Maxwell, please notice that I did not say the entire VIN#  ;)

I've read the other thread you guys refer to, anyone else have any input?

That is why I said "none would completely match". I knew it was a bit of a trick question.

I'm liking the new trivia questions. Glad to see you posting over here too harms. Read quite a bit that you post over at moparts, but I don't get over there much anymore.

Here's another one.

1968 Hemi cars:

They used remaining 1965 & 1966 blocks well into the 1968 model production year. They cast more blocks in 1968 in order to have more when the older block supply was exhausted. There is one well known early casting date, what made the first batch different from the later ones? Extra credit, what was the first date M/D/Y?

10/10/66  very common date
3/28/66    common date
1/31/66    common date

the first batch did not have the machined pad for a vin number on the pass side pan rail

the first 426 hemi block was cast 10/1963
