Is a 90* oil filter adapter needed for a 340 engine

My dad is thinking about building up his 318 in his chally and putting in some 340 hp exhaust manifolds, heads, and intake.  Now, would we need to find a 90* angle oil filter adapter for clearance of the exhaust manifolds or would the oil filter clear the 340 HP exhaust manifolds and exhaust without the adapter?

Thanks,

Brian

I'm not 100% sure , but I thought they where mainly necessary for an A-body.  :scratchchin:
