THE COLONEL

I've been away for a few weeks, and will be still more this winter as I find myself at the hockey rink at least 5 days a week, and if he has two games, I'm there 6 days a week.  Busy, busy, busy, but I had to post this.  One of the father on my sons team asked if Blake did the Penguin Summer Hockey School.  I said he did the practice camp, and the hockey school.  he told me that he thinks Blake was in the Pittsburgh Penguins team calender.  He showed it to me a few days later, and sure enoght, Blkae made the calender.  he is so excited.  I think it is cool.  He has already won more games then I did, and now is making calenders.  What next!!   He wants to get to the NHL, and he is one heck of a goalie at 8 years old.  I can't wait to see how he is in a few years!   Anyway, here is the picture from the month of September.  He is the boy, under the latters "A" & "R" in the word learning, and has the white goalie helmet on.

Thats really cool. My 11 daughter is a huge hockey fan. She wanted to play hockey too. We took her for skating lessons at Delmont Center Ice. We learned that there is hockey for girls here and there but nothing through high school. She wanted to play defense so she could hit people. She is now big into tourney fastpitch softball and basketball.
Does Blake get to meet any of the players? Erin idolizes Fleury. It's great when you see local kids grow up through sports and become someone recognized in the Olympics or for a national team. Ryan Malone was/is still one of my favorite local boys.

He has met a few players and got his jersey signed by them, Fleury being one of them, but during the hockey camp Phil Bourque was an instructor, as was Mike Yeo.  Therrien showed up for one day, and Scuderi the next, so he got to be on the ice with them too.  We will do it agai next year.  It is well worth the few hundred dollars!! :coolgleamA:
